TEXT: MATTHEW 9:35-38 And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every
affliction. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37-38 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is
plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every sickness.

PSALM 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
I PETER 2:25 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.

THE NEED
- The harvest was ready
From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” MATTHEW 4:17 - The harvest truly is plenteous Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, then comes the harvest’? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest. JOHN 4:35
- OUR RESPONSE – Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest—the great Lord and Proprietor of all. JOHN 15:1, “I am the true vine, and My Father is the husbandman.”
- A READINESS TO GO – It is worth noting that those who are here called to pray are in the next chapter sent out themselves!
MUST I GO AND EMPTY HANDED
“Must I go and empty handed
Thus my dear Redeemer meet?
Not one day of service give Him
Lay no trophy at His feet”
“Must I go and empty handed?”
Must I meet my Savior so?
Not one soul with which to greet Him?
Must I empty handed go
